The Center for Substance Abuse Research (CESAR) is an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Maryland dedicated to addressing the behavioral health problems substance use disorders may create for individuals, families, and communities.

CESAR informs policymakers, practitioners, and the general public about the nature and extent of substance use disorders, and their prevention and treatment. CESAR conducts policy-relevant research and evaluation studies, disseminates statistical and other information, and provides training and technical assistance to local and federal agencies and organizations working in related fields.
