The de-identified urine drug test results from electronic health records (EHRs) obtained from patients at participating hospitals are updated each quarter and posted on this site. Expanded re-testing of a limited sample of urines is conducted one time per year in participating hospital sites and the re-testing results are summarized along with the EHR results in the posted site bulletins. During the COVID epidemic there have sometimes been unavoidable delays in receiving data updates.

The Emergency Department Drug Surveillance (EDDS) system was initiated in Maryland, where it was piloted in seven Maryland hospitals. In 2020-2021, as part of EDDS Phase I, it was expanded to five additional hospitals across the county (CA, CO, NJ, OR, UT). With new funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy, EDDS Phase II enabled the expansion of this system to an additional 17 hospitals nationally. To learn more about EDDS or to inquire about becoming an EDDS hospital, please contact us at cesar [at] umd.edu.
